Narrative Review Assesses PDRN for Post-Procedure Recovery
07/05/2025 • by The RAM Institute
A new narrative review has brought together the current evidence on polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) for post-procedure recovery.
The research highlights both its clinical potential and the gaps that remain in the evidence base.
Published in Cureus, the review examines the use of PDRN following a range of aesthetic procedures, including laser resurfacing, microneedling, chemical peels and injectable treatments. The authors conclude that the available studies consistently report improvements in wound healing, inflammation and recovery, although much of the evidence comes from small clinical studies and case reports.
Looking ahead, the review highlights the need for larger randomised controlled trials using standardised outcome measures and longer follow-up periods. The authors also call for research to establish optimal dosing schedules, treatment timing and delivery methods, as well as direct comparisons with other regenerative therapies to determine where PDRN offers the greatest clinical benefit.
They conclude that, while the biological rationale for PDRN is well established, higher-quality clinical evidence is now needed to support its wider integration into aesthetic practice.
