Research Suggests RADIESSE® Supports Regeneration Beyond Collagen
07/05/2025 • by The RAM Institute
New research suggests that RADIESSE® stimulates regeneration across multiple components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), extending beyond collagen production alone.
Published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, the six-month placebo-controlled human biomarker study found that treatment with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) increased collagen by up to 23-fold compared with saline placebo.
The study also reported a 96% increase in elastin, an 82% increase in decorin and a 129% increase in versican – key extracellular matrix proteins involved in skin elasticity, hydration and structural support.
The researchers also observed significant improvements in solar elastosis, a hallmark of chronic sun damage, suggesting that CaHA may contribute to broader extracellular matrix remodelling rather than stimulating collagen alone.
The findings add to growing evidence that regenerative injectables may influence multiple components of the skin’s extracellular matrix, although further independent research is needed to confirm the long-term biological and clinical significance of these effects.
